ITS A BEAUTY PARTY!!!!!

Last night I was treated to an explosion of fashion, hair and makeup at The Barbicans Beauty Party. It was an event to celebrate the new and fantastic japanese fashion exhibition. It featured a new hair piece by  Charlie Le Mindu, an hour long performance by Creative Director of Illamasqua, Alex Box, and also complimentery mini makeovers and nail services being performed in the Art Gallery.

Charlies newest piece was an impressive yellow train of hair with a distinct equestrian feel. You could smell the fresh aroma of Elnett Hairspray, as the piece had been sprayed into position minutes before my viewing. The craftmanship and patience required for his work is impressive, and it supports his motion of   hair and fashion being one.

But the main event for me was the chance to watch a personal icon of mine, Alex Box, at work. After receiving her book with Rankin as a gift last year, I was instantly drawn in to her world of artistry. For her a face is just like any canvas, as she is also trained in fine art. She is an inspiration for the industry. She abolishes rules that you normally would strictly adhere to when applying makeup, but not so that you destroy the face. Each stroke has a refined placement that only comes through experience and genius talent. Its much more then beauty/glamour makeup, its an artform where faces really are moving, breathing canvas'.  A world of beauty where I live in.......

OH CHEZZA

Lesson: This hair colour is not for everyone.

Im not sure what she was thinking as she made the call to her personal hairstylist and said the words "I want to dye my hair berry red". Was she thinking that because she is young, she should play around and have a good time? Was she thinking that as a style icon, she should be ever evolving? I truth is, I dont know what she was thinking!!!

It doesnt work for her. Teamed with her ever orange skin tone, she just looks yellow. Not a flattering look on anyone. Also with the super long extensions at the moment. Its just a whole lot of wrong.

There are so many other options for a women like Cheryl. Firstly ditch the extensions, they are filthy. Why not go for a deep espresso chocolate hue with a shaggy midlength crop. Styled straight without shit loads of volume and finished with a texturising cream. So much more stylish, so much more fashion, and so much more what the people want to see!

Go on Chezza, ditch the chavvy look.  I know you can do it.

THE TOP 100!

Harpers bazaar have just launched their Hot 100 Beauty Products of the year. Here at COIFFURECULTURE, I love products , so I'm going to pick out a few of my favourites...

NO 20. Best Skin Saver- Creme de la Mer Moisturizing Cream
"there is skin, and then there is Creme de la Mer skin" I personally haven't had the pleasure of using this cult Devine cream myself, and pricing beginning at £92 a pop, there is a reason. But why do I want it so bad? Because it's amazing, expensive and well, amazing. It's the diamonds of face cream. One of my make up idols, Jody Oliver, only uses Creme de la Mer on her clients. It must be good eh?

NO 34. Best Foundation- Suqqu Foundation SPF14
Apparently one of the best foundations on the market. It's exclusive to Selfridges, and has the texture of whipped cream. Sounds lushious. Now if only I wore foundation. Ps it's £60.

NO 68. Best Hairspray- Loreal Elnett Satin Hairspray
This is a classic that we all grew up smelling, and now most of us use it. 3 generations of people can't be wrong!

NO 73. Best Styling Product- Klorane Dry Shampoo
This stuff is fantastic. Not only can you use it to freshen dirty hair up but it will also volumise clean hair too! It's a must have.

NO 101. Best Hairdresser- Me!!!!  Kidding. But it will happen soon!

So check out the hottest products of the moment. And make your beauty bag hotter then a Chanel!

SUPER NATURAL

Last week I was treated to 2 days of inspiring antics at AVEDA, learning their latest collection, SUPER NATURAL. Directly inspired by nature and catwalk fashion, the collection draws on sci-fi influences, Alexander McQueens last collection and tribal beauty in nature. Think of it as nature but on steroids.

Intense indigo blues and violets dominate the collection technically directed by Ian Michael Black, with hints of henna stained hair popping up unexpectedly. Antenette Beenders, as Global Creative Director, shows us 3 strong cuts that fuse together feline elements and strong disconnected cuts that remain feminine and perfectly wearable.

This collection and it's techniques are very inspiring for the fashion forward hairdresser. With current fashion and hair trends featured in the collection, it is perfect for use in the salon. I especially love the colour melting highlighting technique which can be seen on the hottest of celebs at moment.

Thank you AVEDA. I definitely feel super natural.

SPICE UP YOUR LIFE

It has been brought to my attention by a rather special ginger that queen ginger Geri is looking WOWZAS right now!!!

We love ginger people here at COIFFURECULTURE and its fantastic to see Ginger Spice looking just as fabulous (if not better) then in her hayday 1996....

Sometimes when Im at home by myself  like to listen to VIVA FOREVER and replace 'viva' with 'ginger'. Yep GINGER FOREVER....

GENIUS

OH NO.... THE EXTENSIONS ARE BACK

So The X Factor has officially kicked into full mode. And it is good. REALLY GOOD...

But Im very unimpressed to see the return of Cheryls extensions. Of course after a bout of Malaria, her first impulse would be do get some dodgy hair extensions, you know, its a comfort thing. But I dont like it one bit.

Cheryl, please Im begging you to find a new style a rock it. Your gorgeous, but playing it too safe. And must I say, its all just a bit bland.... Get a new hairdresser and give your hair the overhaul it needs.

AUTUMN IS UPON US...

AUTUMN IS UPON US... well in the UK anyway. And as the change of season is here, its time to warm up and deepen those summer trashed locks. I have done 4 blonde to brunnetes this week in the salon, and I think you all need to jump on the bandwagon. There is nothing like rich, coco brown hair. Its the 'Chanel' of hair colors, as it looks healthy, gorgeous and oh so sophisticated....

Thing gold, tarnished bronze and espresso chocolate. So go on, treat you hair to a hit of COCO..

Ps Did anyone see Nigellas new show last night on BBC? So fab.... I know nothing to do with hair but hey... who cares? She is AMAZING.
