THE DOLLYKNOT FEATURED IN STYLE MAGAZINE!

Yesterday, flicking through the Sunday Times Style magazine, I was pleasantly suprised to see a step-by-step guide on how to do a Dollyknot (or as they call it, a Dollybun). I just thought I needed to take the oppurtunity to say "You saw it here first" and also "I told you it was hot". Its fantastic seeing hot chicks rocking the look. I especially love a certain gorgeous brunette often seen in the vicinity of Primrose Hill draped in layers of Vivienne Westwood adorned with a Dollyknot. This is exactly what Im talking about people. So next time your in the Primrose Hill area, keep your eyes peeled..........

COIFFURE CULTURE loves you brunette Vivienne Westwood girl.......

AND THE WINNERS ARE............

The Winners of the British Hairdressing Awards were announced last night with the best of the industry in attendance. Taking the ultimate gong of British Hairdresser of the Year is Akin Konizi of HOB for the second consecutive year. And HOB also continued sweeping the awards with Darren Bain collecting London Hairdresser of the Year and finally Artistic Team of the Year. A pretty impressive night for HOB, which Im sure will make the whole industry take notice. Unfortunately Jaimie Stevens of Errol Douglas walked away with no awards, but with Desmond Murray of Atheron Cox taking the Mens section that Jaimie won on his debut last year.

Check out the full list of winners below and their collections by clicking the link.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE WINNERS.

LONDON HAIRDRESSER OF THE YEAR??

So coming up in the next few weeks, the winners of the coveted British Hairdressing Awards will be revealed. These awards are the ultimate title to win the British Hairdressing industry, with possibly thousands of people (including me) entering every year. We have Regional sections, creative Avant Garde, and Color Technician categories. The major title is the British Hairdresser of the year which only people who are nominated can enter. So its a huge deal in the industry as not only does it give a chance for the industry's best to be extremely creative with their trend predictions for the forthcoming year, but it also gives everyone a chance to see what it means to be at the best of your game.

I would like to focus on the "LONDON" category, as i do believe that its the strongest and most competitive in the UK. Take a moment to check out the finalists collections linked below, as the hair is in some cases are quite incredible, and also the photography is stunning.

My personal bet is on Jamie Stevens, Art Director of Errol Douglas. Last year he debuted onto the BHA scene with winning the Mens category and this year he is a finalist in both the London and Mens category. At a young age of 27years, he is bursting onto the BHA scene with a huge burst of talent and inspirational vision. Im sure the industry will see much more to come from him.

I think I have found the man I need to beat in this industry today!!!!

ITS TIME TO SHAG!!!!!

Is your hair flat and boring?? Does it lack style and personality??? YES?? Then you need a shag my friend.....

The "Shag" has been a very popular haircut of mine in the past few months, as I have known that it was definitely on the rise. And now it seems to have hit the "A" List with the queen, Victoria Beckham debuting her "Soft Chag" as featured in Grazia. I must say that, the cut for Victoria is the next natural step for her to take as she grows out her Pixie Crop from last year, but what she is now doing is working her hair with loads of texture which results in a feminine and fashionable edge. Thats what is so attractive and versatile about this cut. It is a flattering mid length cut, teamed with blunt short to midlength layers that become softer around the face. It looks amazing super straight and glossy, but even more amazing with loads of volume and texture. Lily Allen has also got the right idea with the cut. She debuted her shaggier do at the Q awards last week which is stylish, current and fashion all at the same time.

So if you have been feeling like you need a bit of fun and life injected into your look, then i would definitely recommend going for a "Chic Shag" as AVEDA like to put it. You will not be disappointed.

THE DOLLYKNOT REVISTED!!!!!

FINALLY I have an image of "The Dollyknot" as requested. With a sneak peek at Mowgli's upcoming HAIRUP COLLECTION 2010, and a special mention to Johnny (he is very experienced with a good knot!!), get your eyes into this fierce and fabulous do. This ultra cool and stylish coiffure is going to be hot for the next few seasons girls (and guys with length), so please get into it! Check out the original post below if you haven't already.

" The hottest hair trend of the moment. As seen on the catwalks of LFW, The Times Style magazine, even GMTV have mentioned this fresh and contemporary up do. One would assume that the name comes from the resemblance to dolls hair. It is simply a bun on the top of your head, that translates into a classic style which screams individuality and confidence as it is unique without trying too hard. Its also a style that can be easily repeated at home by the untrained individual. It can be messy or really preened and sleek.

All you need to do is sweep hair up to form a mega high ponytail on the top of your head. This is the main step that needs to be adhered to. The hair cant be too low, otherwise it will resemble the classic bun. This more contemporary version must sit on the top of the head, almost so it looks like it is balancing perfectly like a book. Always use some hairspray to assist in holding your hair in place. Once secured, twist your ponytail and mist with some spray. Start wrapping the hair around itself to make a bun. Secure the end of your ponytail by tucking underneath the lowest point of the bun and secure with some kirby grips. DONE.

You can customise the 'dollyknot' depending if you have a fringe or not. For the most dramatic, slightly 80's influenced finish, team with a blunt box fringe (personal favourite). You could also leave some hair down around the face to soften the look if wearing all your hair up off your face is too much.

Bring some power dressing to your next day in the office or even a night out. Its HOT."

EXPENSIVE MAKEUP

Expensive makeup I hear you say???? Its all about looking like you cost a fortune. Mix yellow and bronze shades of metallic gold eyeshadows to make eyes dramatic without looking like you have tried too hard to do so. Gorgeous deep burgundy red lipstick with lashings of blood stained gloss, and a hardly there blush. And yes, add heaps of pearls and anything that looks the cost equivalent of a small car, and your ready to face a day full of canapes, fizz and fabulousness...
