COIFFURE CULTURES FAVOURITE HAIRCUT EVER!!!!!

THE BOX BOB by Vidal Sassoon

So so so so so inspirational. This is what COIFFURE CULTURE is all about people. Vidal Sassoon began to revolutionise the way the world saw their hair in the 60's with haircuts like this. His movement is the reason why I am a passionate hairdresser today.

ORANGE IS SO HOT RIGHT NOW!

Well actually, its always been super hot in my books. As my preference to a red lip, Im very happy to see that the fashion world have finally caught on to the trend of fantastic fanta worthy lushious orange lips. Lets face it, it compliments most skin tones, with most women wearing a fabulous peachy hue on their cheeks, then why not on their lips? And having been seen on the Prada catwalk teamed with bushy, beachy, low dual ponytails, we are officially on the forefront of makeup fashion trends. Grazia says marry it with a slick of lip gloss, but COIFFURE CULTURE says go for bold and forget the gloss! Its all about being confident, sexy and having a bit of fun!!!!

PS. I  absolutely 'jadore' MACS Morange lipstick. Its the best out there!

FEATURED IN THIS MONTHS "THE SALON" MAGAZINE WITH THE FADE!!!!!!

THE FADE is a technique I have been using on my clients for the past few months as it is a fabulous way of growing and blending out lighter and even over-processed hair. In my eyes, hair color that looks darker at the roots is always a very fashionable look as it has depth, tone and interest. Think of some of the most beautiful women in the world, Gisele Bundchen, Elle Macpherson and Sarah Jessica Parker. They all have one thing in common, as they understand the beauty and allure in having depth at the roots of hair. It is fantastically fabulous.

If you want to open yourself up to a low-maintenance and unique color with depth and lots of shine, then call MOWGLI on 02074831000 and book in to see me now!

EMBRACE THE POWER OF THE POWDER!!!

Makeup has been on the steep increase in popularity in the past few years, and with 2010 in full swing, this year will see more of us powdering, lining and lashing then ever. Women of all ages are wearing more makeup as part of their daily routine. It is no longer an object of annoyance in consuming 15 minutes of ones time in the morning, it is now 15 glorious minutes of enjoyable time spent on making yourself look like you have taken time to make yourself look fabulous.

With women of all ages reaching for their makeup bag as part of their daily routine, we are seeing a more presentable and confident female front. Makeup is also a statement as much as it is a beautifier, with many celebrities painting their faces to show unique and individual beauty. The tired feminist notion that makeup is a sellout may finally be killing itself off, as women are seeing the positives of adorning makeup. Lipgloss is no longer the staple in every womens makeup bag (its the makeup of porn stars), as lipstick has increased in sales as its a way of updating and changing your look within moments. Its cheaper then a new outfit, the compliments are immediate, and its cool.

Technological advancements are seeing the makeup industry flooded with new and exciting textures of makeup all the time. So no longer will it make your lines stand out, or make you feel as if you are slathered in a layer of concrete. Makeup can now be whatever you want it to be, all you need to do is find the products you have dreamed of.

COIFFURE CULTURE HEARTS ALEX BOX BY RANKIN

Image Book Cover Alex Box/Rankin

In October Alex Box released an amazing book in which she collaborated with Rankin, and as I got my hands on a copy recently, I just had to take the opportunity to write about it. This book, for me, is such a huge inspiration and also a turning point in the makeup artists career. Not that I am suggesting that she was not successful before this, no no no.... But I do think that putting out such an amazing collection of work such as this really makes it obvious that she is a leader in her own right.

If you are not familiar with Alex, she studied Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art  and found herself focusing on performance and bodies. This led her into using makeup as her tool for artistic expression, and as you can see from the above image, her talent is very obvious. She is creative part of the thriving Illamasqua cosmetic range, and also one of the most sought out creative fashion makeup artists today.

If you love Makeup, Hair, Fashion, Beauty, Art and/or Photography, then this inspirational book is for you.

PRESENTING THE HAIRUP COLLECTION 2010

Take a look at the collection of hairups below designed by myself and Johnny Mulhern for Mowgli. In the past few seasons, hair grooming has really increased on the catwalks and also on the streets. I love grooming hair into a coiffure of stylish delight, and i also really think that more people should get in on the action. No longer is it an act for when you have a 'black tie' event on, it is a way of showing your individuality and style. Take a look back in history and you will see that it is such a classic way to groom and style your hair. Im sure everyone would know of at least one friend of your grandparents who still get their hair french rolled once a week. This is not what I am suggesting, although if it was good enough for the stylish people of past decades, then why cant we grab onto the trend and just give it a stamp of contemporary fabulousness????

I am pleased to say that at a party at mine that saw in 2010, there were 3 spotted Dollyknots (as been feature on COIFFURE CULTURE many times). Loves it.

So next time you feel like taking your hair and image to the next level, let the 5 styles above lead you in the right direction. You will look fashionable, fabulous and oh so 'on-trend'.

PS I did the makeup in the collection. With lots of thanks to our stunning model Kelly. Much love to you.
