MOMMIE DEAREST...

Now we all know that Joan Crawford was of another diamondly level, and I would not want to promote vicious abuse of any kind, BUT I cant but love this clip of her biographical movie Mommie Dearest played by the fabulous Faye Dunaway. It is equally as amazing as it is disturbing... All with a bit of Mamma Mia thrown in too...

Try not to laugh, I dare you....

BRITISH HAIRDRESSING AWARDS

So last night was the final of the BHAs at Grosvenor House in London. And surprisingly the results are actually fantastic! Lots of new names dominate the winners list, which gives me lots of faith that the competition isn't a fix as it generally seems. And especially fascinating is that HOB only took home 1 award where they have dominated the competition for the past 2 years. Toni and Guy unsurprisingly won 2 awards, Sean Hanna won the London prize, and Angelo Seminara won the covetable British Hairdresser of the year. Gives me lots of faith that there is a chance in this competition after all.

So fingers crossed for next year huh?

'SOMEONE LIKE YOU', YOU SAID..

Oh Adele, I know your great and can sing, but this is something else. I have not stopped listening to this clip all week and thought I just had to share the love. Her vocals and the track are all spine tinglingly amazing. And I must say that Im quite enjoying the semi-bouffant casual pony tail. Its just enough without looking overdone. Id like to think she may have even done it herself, but probably not. I must also add her makeup is perfect for such a performance of vocal art. Her eyeshadow is frosted and smokey without looking whorish (go for satin taupe MAC eyeshadow at home kids, its GORGE), and big false lashes with soft peachy lips. JUST ENOUGH.

Im predicting an amazing 2nd album for you girl. I cant wait. Keep up the good work.

OHHH CHERYL

Who is your hair stylist??? I have asked this question a few times over recent weeks, as your hair is not meeting the mark darling. Last night on the X Factor, Cheryl had a disgusting braid sweeping across her fringe that looked so juvenile that I doubt any of my teenage clients would even adore it. SO NOT GOOD CHERYL.

WHY WHY WHY?????

Unfortunately I cant find an image of her unfortunate hairdo, but I do have some other images of her obsession with braids and cornrowing. Most of them with not so gorgeous results.

NO NO NO NO NO CHEZZA.......

Painted nails?

So yesterday out of boredom I had my nails painted black by my manicurist at work. Now, it's not something I have done in a few years, and I have also been tempted by it quite a few times recently. I was nervous and unsure. Almost as if I was changing my identity. And it got me a thinking. Can guys paint their nails without looking like a try hard? Many men have done it, and I had constantly painted nails for quite a while, but why is it that I was so worried about how it would make me look? It's only nail polish for gods sake.

I think the day of the 'metrosexual' has passed, and now men are men. No more does David Beckham shock the world with his gender bending fashion choices, and so as a reaction so does the rest of the world. The essence of fashion has moved on, and a coat of black nail polish isn't enough to make a man look cool (I hate that word).

So I'm saying that I took my nail polish off and now have them looking the way a fashion forward mans nails should look. That's groomed, healthy and gorgeous.

That's all.

oooohhhhhhh... AVEDAS NEW MAKEUP

About a month ago, AVEDA relaunched its makeup line with amazing improvements. Previously there had been too many products that didnt really do much, and with looking at what the consumer needed, they have now given us a smaller, more fashionable range of mineral makeup.

I must say, Im actually quite impressed with the range. The problem that most people faced with the makeup was the natural pigments didnt do enough once on, but AVEDA have firmly squashed that issue with launching an eye shadow transforming liquid that intensifies all eyeshadows. The results are amazing and can be matched to the results you would expect of a MAC eye shadow. There is also some new Nourishmint Lip Glaze's that have a beautiful amount of color and shine. But my personal favourite has always been the Tinted Foundation. I personally use it in my professional kit as it evens out the skin beautifully and is light enough to feel like skin. Finished off with the Dual Foundation Pressed Powder to build up some coverage and eradicate shine, and you are left with a fabulously natural complexion. They even have a new Foundation Brush to go with the line.

AVEDA's makeup is never going to be MAC, but what it is, is a mineral range that is actually good for you to use. It is light, nourishing, naturally derived.... the list goes on. There are so many positives for using AVEDA that Im definitely seeing it in a new light. You should check it out.

GREASY GISELLE

Was anyone else shocked when they opened the Sunday Times to find STYLE magazine adorned with a super greasy giselle smacked on the front? I WAS. Its so horrible. Im not sure exactly they were going for, and with a title like "Super Duper, where giselle and the worlds hottest celebs go to get an injection of cool", I definitely wasn't left feeling inspired. Cool? Who even uses that word anymore? I felt like I needed a shower after looking at her orange grease covered skin.

Please STYLE, dont do it again.

Thats all.
